De Profundis
So, this is my blog. The moniker may refer to the people who lived in Spanish California prior to statehood. It may not refer to me, though I am a Californian, insomuch as I was born there, matured there, etc. As it has to do with a blog, well, I like to think about genealogies, memories, histories, and localities, among other things. And I have been known to be an incessant promoter of my home state. So the writing here will reflect some of these obsessions, as well as things I just decide to write for no reason. It will include recollections, travelogues, poetry, translations, “essays,” maybe some ramblings on books. I don’t want this to be much of a journal, but rather an offering to the gods of the Internets, and you, the Reader. Thank you for reading and conversing, hope you enjoy.

Well, well, well … talk about hairsplitting … “those who blogroll with me” vs. “blogs I like to read’ … _Really_, elcal? … [ahem] … I demand instantaneous reclassification, even if I do have obooki for company as an outcaste.
I really do like the poems though as a comrade of long standing, how can I possibly be objective? The photograph is so beautiful and unlike the usual views of the Bay that I’m going to help myself to a copy before I leave … copyright shmopyright … and you will want to know that I haven’t visited my own blog, let alone anyone else’s, for weeks.
This I found most ingenious and when I end up in a schizophrenia ward after following your example, guess who I’ll blame?
=== You will notice a name, an author, appended to the work. That’s me. Since I write longhand (mostly), I figure that authorship belongs to my offline self. ===
… This is all by way of saying, _welcome_ ,,, a debut long overdue, and a lovely start.

well, i should’ve said
i’ll have to change that post-haste.
and i’ll make sure obooki is in between you and mish. that photo is unlike most mostly because it’s from Alcatraz (though a Bay Area friend recently noted it looks like I’m in Tiburon, sipping scotch and smoking cloves, channeling my Romantic muse). Oh and my dad took it, so double copyright theft.
i do find that online and offline personas tend to differ, but then, i tend to offer different faces to different crowds in public anyways.
thanks for stopping by, i’ll stop by acciaccature soon…off to visit our Capitol! got a relative on the inside.
